On The Edge

GleAM Records is proud to announce the release of On The Edge , the new album by saxophonist Mattia Basilico featuring Alessio Pagliero on piano, Carlo Bavetta on double bass and Bernardo Guerra on drums. The album will be released on 16 October 2026 as a digital download and on streaming platforms through Believe Digital, and on CD through Naxos Music and Galileo Music.

On The Edge is deeply rooted in the jazz tradition while exploring new expressive possibilities. Moving between memory and transformation, the music reveals the continuing creative vitality of the great composers’ repertoire and the legacy of the masters. The quartet approaches this tradition as a living, fertile source of new forms, directions and musical landscapes. Arranged by the group, the pieces provide an open setting for interaction, where written material makes room for freedom, mutual listening and fresh discoveries in each performance.
Mattia Basilico, Alessio Pagliero, Carlo Bavetta and Bernardo Guerra develop a deep, spontaneous interplay, grounded in a shared musical vision and a common sense of phrasing and musical flow. Each musician contributes a distinctive sound, approach and sensibility. Their interaction gives the album its voice: music shaped by dynamic contrasts, created in the moment and open to risk, continually finding new directions through listening and exchange.
