Underbrush is the first project led by drummer and composer Federico Chiarofonte. The name refers as much to an interior undergrowth as a safe place where reflections take place, as to a hidden social undergrowth within which flourishing forms of culture and musical ecosystems develop. The titles of the pieces are literary, refer to biology or are simply autobiographical and are hermetic clues about the sound narrations presented.

The eight tracks that make up “Underbrush” are inserted in the context of contemporary jazzy language presenting a version metabolized and influenced by musical influences that derive from the sensitivity of the first investigations and experiments of the composer and the contribution of improvisation and interpretations the pianist Vittorio Solimene and the double bass player Alessandro Bintzios.
